Criminal Law FAQ

by | Nov 17, 2021 | Criminal Law

This FAQ authored by Robert K. Fischl, Criminal Defense Attorney at Ward Law, P.A.

WHEN ARE THE POLICE YOUR FRIENDS?

If you are a child seeking your missing pet, the police are your friend and your helper. If you are

the operator of a motor vehicle or of a boat and the local police are hailing your vehicle to stop,

the chances are they are not your friend.

SHOULD YOU TALK IF YOU ARE STOPPED BY THE POLICE?

Remember:  Just as you have seen and heard on television, what you say can and will be used against you.

SHOULD YOU ARGUE WITH THE POLICE?

When you are confronted by the police on the street or any other place, it is no time to fight or

argue with the police. Be respectful, even though you are in a tense and unwanted situation, it is

important to be respectful rather than to fight with the police and have the matter escalate.

Fighting with the police can only cause additional charges and consequences that are much

worse.

WE WILL FIGHT FOR YOU

Let us, at Ward Law, P.A., fight for you. Getting arrested and charged with a crime is not a

pleasant experience and we cannot make it one. We can though, and do, fight to protect your

rights and serve your interests. When the State or the Federal Government charges someone with

a crime, there is a whole bureaucracy dedicated to securing a conviction. Convictions have

consequences for you. Depending upon the crime, that conviction can include serious jail time,

probation, high fines in addition to court costs, and loss of licenses and privileges.  Convictions

for criminal charges not only have present day consequences; they impact your future and

that of your family.
