Richard W. Withers is a Senior Attorney with the firm. A fourth-generation Central Floridian, he is a graduate of Daytona Beach Community College and the University of Florida (B.A., 1969) and the University of Florida College of Law (J.D., 1972).

Admitted to The Florida Bar in 1972, Mr. Withers has a broad background of public and private practice in Northeast, Central, and Southwest Florida before relocation to Northwest Florida. He began his career working in private practice in Daytona Beach before developing a maritime practice in Jacksonville, specializing in defense of claims made under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and its various extensions and seaman’s claims under the Jones Act. He was appointed as the School Board Attorney for the Nassau County School Board in 1995, a position he held until relocating to Naples in 2004 to serve as the School Board Attorney for the Collier County School Board.

He returned to Central Florida in 2008 and practiced there until he relocated to Destin/Ft. Walton Beach in 2021. Mr. Withers represents clients for the firm in a variety of real estate, business, estate and probate matters, and in all types of litigation, administrative law, and appellate matters.
